In 2004, Keating acquired a Top Sportsman tube chassis full size Chevy pickup that was previously powered by a blown Oldsmobile running on alcohol.  His aim was to become the fastest full size diesel pickup using a 6B motor.  In its previous trim, the truck tilted the scales at 3,000 pounds.  After removing the motor from his street truck with 225,000 miles of service, he honed the block, replaced the rings and main bearings, ported and polished the head, and installed a new crank and his own twin turbo system.  Weighing in at 3,850 pounds including ice water intercooler, the truck was able to run 8.80 at 157 mph with this cleaned up motor in 2005.  Refinements to the truck led to the removal of the intercooler and a switch to water injection.  While a loss of power was realized, the reduction in weight by 300 pounds was significant enough to offset the performance loss.  In 2006, Keating was a participant in the first ever Pro Mod diesel truck drag race against Greg Houge.  In 200x Keating installed a newly modified motor in the truck that included a new cam and 24 valve pistons, a stock crank, yielding a pass of 8.70 seconds at 159.8 mph in the quarter mile and 5.50 seconds at 130.x mph in the eighth mile.  Keating had achieved his goal of becoming the Fastest Full Size Diesel Drag truck, a record he still holds today.  The truck is the second fastest diesel truck on fuel only, surpassed only by Darren Morrison, a friend/customer/dealer of Keating Machine.
